‘Sigh’ is such a wonderful word
Onomatopoeia at its glittery best
A good ‘Sigh’ beats a grunt, moan
Or whine any day
The swift utterance of wordless breath absent of comment or statement
Yet speaking volumes when timed correctly,
A sigh can be sexy, sibilant or sombre
Occasionally staccato
Never silent
We spoke, you and I
And at the last
You sighed.
So much said in so little
That sigh follows me,
I hear it in the wind and in the water
And yet that was the last you said
So I cannot ask -was your sigh meant for me, for what I said or was it meant for the world we inhabited together
For a time.
